A Stunning pair of Hunter High-Back lounge chairs crafted with a rusty brown colored leather and a sturdy Rosewood frame. The leather cushions are suspended by a canvas weave. These chairs were designed in the 1960s by Norwegian designer Torbjørn Afdal for Bruksbo.
Originally purchased by the owner from Brisbane’s “Gestault Interiors” in the 1970s, these chairs have remained with the same owner ever since. They were recently reupholstered in high-quality soft leather from the Wortley Group.

Background Information:
Torbjørn Afdal (1917-1999) was a prominent Norwegian furniture designer known for his contributions to mid-century modern design. He trained at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry, graduating in 1946. Afdal worked for the design studio Bruksbo Tegnekontor, where he created some of his most famous pieces, including the Hunter lounge chair, the Krobo bench, and the Times liquor cabinet. His designs are characterized by their clean lines, functional form, and use of high-quality materials, often featuring wood and leather. Afdal’s work gained international recognition and remains highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of mid-century modern furniture.
Condition:
The Rosewood frames have been cleaned and waxed, resulting in a stunning appearance. The leather has been recently reupholstered and is soft and in excellent condition.Some wear on the leather Arm edges as pictured, they are the orginal . The canvas is strong and clean. With some minor signs of use, these chairs have been well cared for.
