Background Information:
Henry Roberts was a successful Brisbane builder and valuator who established a prominent furniture business in the early 20th century. Between 1923 and 1928, he constructed a series of commercial buildings in Fortitude Valley, starting with a two-storey brick showroom and workshop in 1920. His business, Brunswick Home Furnishers, expanded rapidly, reflecting the area’s growth as a key hub for furniture and home improvement. The company’s innovative showroom designs and high-quality furnishings made it a significant player in Brisbane’s commercial scene, particularly during the prosperous interwar period.
Condition:
In good original condition. I’ve cleaned & re-glued all the joints on the frame. The tabletop has some previous repairs on the edge, and the veneer is slightly raised around the same edge, but it’s nothing significant.
