Description
A rare opportunity to own a complete set of six dining chairs from Robert Dunlop’s sought-after Studio Line, produced in Brisbane during the late 1970s. Inspired by Dunlop’s collaboration with Danish designer Tom Larsen, these chairs exemplify Australian modernist design with a refined, sculptural silhouette.
Each chair features a handcrafted Radiata Pine frame joined with anodised aluminium tubing, and upholstered in soft tan leather — a warm, versatile tone that pairs beautifully with both vintage and contemporary interiors. The set includes four side chairs and two carvers, making it ideal for a statement dining setting or film/styling use.
Beautifully preserved and structurally sound, these chairs are equally suited for everyday use or feature placement in commercial, creative, or collector environments.

Item Details
Age: Circa 1970s
Background:
Robert Dunlop (1925–2014) was a pioneering Australian furniture designer and master craftsman whose work helped define the country’s modernist design identity. Based in Brisbane, he founded his own workshop in the 1960s and went on to produce handcrafted pieces that blended natural timbers with industrial materials — often incorporating Radiata Pine and anodised aluminium. His celebrated Studio Line, developed in collaboration with Danish designer Tom Larsen, was sold internationally and featured in institutions like Parliament House in Canberra. Dunlop was known not only for his technical innovation and sculptural design language, but also for his generosity, mentorship, and lifelong dedication to the woodworking community
Condition:
The leather has been thoroughly cleaned and conditioned, revealing a rich patina that speaks to the age and craftsmanship of the set. No rips, cracks, or structural issues are present, with only minor wear consistent with gentle use. The timber frames have been cleaned and treated with oil to enhance the grain and tone. Some surface marks remain, adding character without compromising integrity.
One chair exhibits a damaged central pine support bar located beneath the seat. This flaw does not affect the structural integrity of the chair but should be noted for transparency.
